Albany

Albany is home to Chehaw Park, and you can feed a camel there.  That, in itself, is a good enough reason to go to Albany. Take a drive down I 75, and see what this southern gem has to offer.  You can also check out the Flint RiverQuarium, and get a chance to see a super different kind of alligator.

Augusta

If you enjoy Southern history, Augusta is a rich area to experience.  Check out the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area museum. You’ll experience a moment back in time, and take a boat tour through the canal built-in 1845.  

There’s also a rich Native American history in the area, and an array of other attractions to keep you and your travel party busy for days.  You may not be able to just “pass through” Augusta.

Dahlonega

Get gold fever, and visit Dahlonega, Georgia.  Okay, you may not strike it rich, but there is a place where you can actually pan for gold.  The Consolidated Gold Mines and Crisson Gold Mine both offer unique opportunities for travelers looking for a new experience.

Helen
