Snowmobile Tours at Smuggler’s Notch Resort - A Must Do

Some tours you take in your life will set your soul on fire. Will give you such a thrill you’ll be energized for hours and hours after. Snowmobiling at Smugglers Notch in Vermont did just that to my hubby and me. He’s a full-on adrenaline junkie, so when I saw his excitement and energy after the tour, I knew this was the real deal.

I honestly don’t understand how this tour isn’t always booked out and filled up. I’m surprised and so grateful to have been able to join in.

At first, I was totally on the fence if I should get one for myself or sit on the back of my husband’s. But with the encouraging push from the guide, Dakota, I went for it.

And have never looked back.

What makes this tour so special and so different?

Adventure – this is without a doubt one of the most adventurous tours I’ve ever done. With the snowfall in Vermont, we had perfect trails and the trees were covered in snow lit by the moonlight.

It really was as magical as it sounds.

Back Country – with the snow, we were able to go on some passes that are usually opened to cars, during the other seasons, but with the heavy snowfall, we had the beautiful road all to ourselves where our guides stopped and gave us some fun facts about the area.

Tranquility – With nothing but the sounds of our snowmobiles (which surprisingly weren’t loud at all) and the rustling of the wind, the night seemed so peaceful and inviting.

Night Life – The best tour, in my opinion, is the evening tour. This is when everyone else is done with the skiing and other activities and you have the place to yourselves. Plus, you will be amazed at how much you can see at night. And if you’re worried about the cold, snowmobiles are designed, in a way, to keep you warm. (OK, I was really worried about that one – and it was great.)

Vermont Respect – By this point, it’s quite obvious that we are totally smitten by anything Vermont, from our summer trip to our winter adventure. And usually, this doesn’t happen only due to the place but to the people who inhabit it. So far all the people we have met simply exude the love of this State. And that’s exactly what we got when we stopped at the top of the closed pass from our guide. While he was telling us about the area, his constant words about how fun it is to do this, or to do that here was contagious.

The only thing I have to say, my family and I are really thinking of how to find a way to spend several months, if not longer, a year in Vermont.

Take my advice, when you come to Smuggs, make sure to arrange the Snowmobile tour in advance, because I know the word will get out fast enough and it will be a sold-out tour soon enough!
