Six Ways to Travel With Benefit: 6 Ways To See the World And Help Others

If a lazy vacation by the sea with vistayachts is already boring, and even sightseeing does not inspire, it is a sign that it is time to look at travel from a different angle. As long as most borders are closed, it will not be possible to implement all ideas, but you can start planning – sooner or later the lockdown will be over.

Six Ways to Travel With Benefit: 6 Ways To See the World And Help Others

1. Charitable trips

This is a variant of tours in which the organizer either provides work for low-income people or donates part of the funds received for the trips to charitable foundations. Help is sent, for example, to orphans, those who need expensive treatment, and homeless animals. You can find the appropriate organization by searching for “charity tours”.

2. Volunteering

There are many volunteer programs for those who want to travel with benefits. There are many different options: you can help people in need, contribute to the conservation of endangered animals, teach English to children in Thailand, save forests, build educational centers, and so on.

To find the right program, it is worth contacting the volunteer centers. There you can also find out all about the living conditions and the amount of work to be done. Volunteer projects can be located in the United States or abroad.

3. Archaeological and geographical expeditions

They allow you to enjoy the beauty of the world around you and to restore natural objects or search for antiquities at the same time. Usually, expeditions involve people with special education, but sometimes they also involve volunteers who want to travel in a useful way.

Usually, all expenses are taken care of by organizers, but you may have to spend money on tickets to the starting point. And you should be ready for hard work: you won’t be able to sit and watch nature the whole day. Even non-professionals take part in excavations, landscaping, construction of ecological trails, and repair works.

4. Study Abroad

There are two ways to see the planet and learn something new. The first, long-term, is by going to university. If this does not require large material investments you can look for scholarships and grants or choose the country with free higher education even for foreigners, for example, the Czech Republic, Germany, or Norway. True, in the latter case, you will have to learn a foreign language in advance. But during training, you can travel around Europe.

The second, short-term, is the passage of language courses. The suitable option can be found in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Portugal, France, Cyprus, and other countries. You can learn French, Korean, German, Japanese and other languages. The course at the language schools can be either short or long – from two weeks to a year.

5. Help exchange

This is the name given to work on farms and horticultural farms, in hotels or hostels, where the owners are not able to cover the cost of staff. Therefore, you will not be paid, and you will have to pay your way.

But the Help exchange provides food and lodging, and in your spare time, you can explore a new city or country. Volunteers do not work the whole day, usually 4-6 hours, so there are plenty of opportunities to relax, get to know other cultures and interesting people. And some hosts also provide workers with free extra language or yoga lessons, sightseeing tours, and other perks.

6. Seasonal work

This way of traveling is similar to the previous one, but it is designed for those who want to return not empty-handed, but with earnings. Employees can be sought for the season to pick strawberries and other berries in England, Finland, Germany, Poland, and the rest of Europe, work in hotels in Turkey, cafes in Italy and Spain. There are many options. Preparing for the summer seasonal work must be done in winter: if you want to visit the country that requires a visa, it is worth taking time to make it.

Employers usually provide free accommodation and meals, but you will have to work hard – 8 hours a day. But at the weekend you can already explore the country. Seasonal work usually lasts from three to six months, but if you manage to build trust with the leadership, there is a chance to stay longer.
