Four Amazing Fishing Spots in Sydney

Four Amazing Fishing Spots in Sydney

The beaches of Sydney are home to a diverse range of species that appeal to anglers of all skill levels. The waterways of Sydney are some of the best in the world. Fishing after work is now possible thanks to daylight savings time, making it possible to get home (or the campground) in time for the sunset.

Sydney is the place to go if you want to combine big city life with great fishing. From sheltering coves to twisting rivers – not to mention the ocean – the “Harbour City” is surrounded by excellent fishing sites. It’s difficult to know where to begin with so much going on. We’ve put together a list of four of Sydney’s top fishing places.

But First, Get a Fishing Charter

As a novice angler, you don’t need to take a fishing trip to learn the ropes. For the vast majority of people, these boats come with a crew of experienced fishermen to assist you throughout your fishing trip.

Charter fishing offers a lot of freedom, which is a huge perk. When you rent a fishing boat from experience market players like Off The Map Fishing Charters Sydney, you have the flexibility to choose from a wide variety of boat types and destinations in Sydney.

You don’t have to confine yourself to a specific spot where your boat can be docked or haul it around on a trailer. So you can have any car you want and not have to worry about it being able to tow your boat when you want to explore new waters.

The 4 Amazing Fishing Spots in Sydney

  1. Clifton Gardens, Port Jackson

Clifton Gardens is one of the most beautiful places in Sydney to fish. To avoid the crowds at the public pool, we recommend heading out on the jetty in the early morning and swimming in the ocean. Alternatively, you may pitch up camp in a nearby park, with an esky by your side.

  1. Gunnamatta Bay, Port Hacking

Gunnamatta Bay is one of the best fishing places in Port Hacking, South Sydney. It’s easy to see why Gunnamatta is so popular; it has a large jetty with plenty of room to set up your chairs and relax before a morning of fishing. Small bream and snapper can be found in plenty in the water near the moored boats, increasing your chances of capturing one.

  1. Gordons Bay

Gordons Bay is a beautiful hideaway nestled between Coogee Beach and Clovelly Beach, north of Coogee. Parking is available at either Coogee or Clovelly Beach, but only via the Coastal Walkway.

You’ll find raised boardwalks on this walkway to naturally protect the local wildlife and a tiny wetland area supplied by a spring. It looks like a European fishing village with the local fishing club’s boats lining the tiny beach.

Native flora abounds in the bay, which is tucked away and peaceful. Many little birds and lizards find sanctuary in the lush undergrowth.

  1. Gladesville Wharf – Parramatta River

Gladesville Wharf, located on the Parramatta River, is considered the greatest place in Sydney to capture a jewfish because of its proximity to the river. Because of the ferry’s wash and interference, it’s best to pick a place after the final ferry departs (about 8 pm).

You should release any fish you capture because pollution levels in the river indicate that you shouldn’t be eating it.

We wish you the best fishing weekend on the Australian coast, but always remember, fresh bait is the best!
