Kinabalu, you can still stroll Kinabalu Park. There are different species of flowers at the Botanical Gardens. If you are lucky enough, you will get the chance to witness the largest flower on Earth called Rafflesia. You can also experience a few trails at Kinabalu Park:
    • Bukit Buring trail. If you enjoy bird-watching, this is the perfect trail for you.
    • Silau-silau trail. There are different wildlife birds on this famous 3 km trail. It’s an easy walk and you don’t need to complete the whole trail.
    • Mempening trail. It is another easy trail with plenty of flat walks that takes roughly 2 hours.
    • Liwagu river trail. You will be trekking along the river and it is rugged landscapes. It takes more than two hours to walk because of the more challenging route.
  • Squirrel feeding. Start your hike at the Timpohon Gate’s deck to Mt. Kinabalu. Buy packets of nuts and feed the wild squirrels. These squirrels have learned to grab food from the hands of the visitors because they have experienced it a lot. They are used to feeding by the visitors and they feel safe even while with the visitors.

These squirrels are very adorable and they are extremely shy. If you wish to take the chance of making these squirrels run up to your arms, place the food on the bend on the arm or shoulders, for them to climb up. Yes, they are very safe.

  • Poring hot spring – hot sulphur bath. It is situated in the lowland rainforest, the famous Poring hot spring has the iconic canopy walk. But, expect that there is an additional fee if you plan to experience the hot sulphur bath. Plus, only one camera is allowed. The locals believed that there are sulphuric minerals found in the hot spring, and it is believed to have healing properties; it is the reason for the popularity of the hot spring.

They say that your visitors can’t be complete if you can’t soak in the Poring hot spring.
